A work in progress guide, to be checked every now and then for further updates.

The traditional Christmas market in piazza Navona has finally started, after many debates on the tender for stalls assignment and on security costs. After 3 years of absence, the historical stalls have come back on the square, perhaps it’s not exactly the kind of market we like (too many plastic toys and knick-knacks which could be found anywhere), but the antique carousel and few stalls dedicated to the nativity scene bring back some of the good old spirit.

Among the first ones to start, the historical market in piazza Mazzini, Christmas edition of the antiques market taking place every other Sunday of each month. The offering is wide: in addition to Christmas accessories (decorations, nativity scenes, pottery, music boxes), there are many gift ideas (scarves, herbal cosmetics, regional delicatessen, wood art crafts) and some of the Sunday’s sellers with their antiques. [December 1-24, 9-19:30]

The VINTAGE MARKET has planned two sessions this year, one at Largo venue (via Biordo Michelotti, 2) on December 3rd: colored lights, Christmas carols and cookies smell. A day full of events for the younger ones (face painting, creative labs and workshops to create decorations with recycled materials) and a deejay set for the older. There will also be plenty of options in the food corner, from brunch to happy hour, and tons vintage clothes sold by weight. Also, a charity project, with the smiles of ATASonlus clowns. The other appointment is with the Japanese market.

After a Christmas Preview, on November 26, the Japanese Market will celebrate its Christmas on December 16 and 17 in the Deposito Centrale / Molo Nuovo hangar, together with Vintage Market. In addition to the stalls, there will be several exhibitions, a cinema room (with annaryJapanese masterpieces) and workshops. You will find anything from Japan: manga and cartoons, kokeshi dolls, original kimonos, lamps, superheroes t-shirts and decorated pottery. Many workshops dedicated to shodo (Japanese calligraphy), ikebana, origami, taiko, maccha preparation, Kendo and kobudo demonstrations, shiatsu and haiku dance show and a rich food corner, including sushi, takoyaki, ramen, yakitor, dorayaki, tea and sake.
